The World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO) has appointed Hon. Dr. Mustapher Mohamed Siyani, the Principal
Judge of the High Court of Tanzania, as a member of its Judicial Advisory
Board.
Hon. Dr. Siyani’s appointment, is a
testament to the Judiciary of Tanzania’s commitment to strategic stakeholders’
engagement in and beyond the borders of Tanzania. It also ensures
representation of Tanzania, and Africa at large, in matters of global judicial
cooperation specifically those pertaining to intellectual property.
Hon. Dr. Siyani becomes the fourth Judge
from Africa to be appointed to serve as a member of WIPO’s Judicial Advisory
Board. This appointment is an acknowledgment of his dedication in protection of
rights, justice, and rule of law.
In the service of his appointment, Hon. Dr. Siyani will join nine other esteemed Jurist from across the globe, who will be officially announced by WIPO on 15th October 2025, as members of WIPO’s Judicial Advisory Board.
The new distinguished members of the Board follow the
footsteps of eminent former Board members, such as Judge Jimmie V. Reyna of the
United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Judge Rian Kalden of the European Unified Patent Court, Judge Olayinka Faji of Federal
Court of Nigeria, Judge Ángel Galgo Peco of Court of Appeal, Spain, Judge Dedar
Singh Gill of Supreme Court, Singapore, Judge Hugo Ramiro Gómez Apac of Court of Justice, Andean Community, Judge
Nehad Al Hussban, President of the Amman Court,Jordan, Judge Zane Pētersone of the Supreme Court of
Latvia, and Judge Zhu Li, Deputy Chief
Judge of the Supreme People’s
Court of China.
Today, Tanzania stands tall, with its flag waving proudly across the international legal landscape. Congratulations Hon. Dr. Mustapher Mohamed Siyani, Compliments to the Judiciary of Tanzania and Felicitations to the United Republic of Tanzania.
