THE Principal Judge of the High Court of
Uganda, Hon. Dr. Flavian Zeija today August 19, 2023 concluded his five-day
official visit to the Judiciary of Tanzania and has left the country.
He
was escorted to the Julius Nyerere International Airport and seen off by Senior
Deputy Registrar of the High Court of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Main Registry,
Hon. Arnold
Kerikeano and other judicial officers, including Court Administrator Filbert Matotay at around 17.00 hours.
Hon. Dr. Zeija arrived in the country on
Tuesday August 15, 2023 and was received by Judge of the High Court of
Tanzania, Main Registry, Hon. Latifa Mansoor and other officials of the Judiciary
of Tanzania.
On the next day, that is, Wednesday August 16,
2023, he met his host, the Principal Judge of the High Court of Tanzania, Hon.
Mustapher Mohamed Siyani. After holding official talks, Hon. Dr. Zeija received
two reports from the Judiciary Delivery Unit JDU) and the Directorate of Case
Management before speaking to the press.
The Ugandan Principal Judge, who was
accompanied by Permanent Secretary of the Judiciary of Uganda, Dr. Pius
Bigilimana, also visited the Integrated Justice Centre for Family Matters
Temeke and later moved to Buza area to witness how the Mobile Court operates.
On Thursday August 17, 2023, Hon. Zeija and
his delegation went to the capital city of Dodoma, where he visited the Headquarters
of the Judiciary of Tanzania. He was was received by the Chief Court
Administrator of the Judiciary of Tanzania, Prof. Elisante Ole Gabriel. He had
an opportunity to see for himself various practical activities going on in that
building.
Hon. Dr. Zeija inspected some of the
infrastructure and areas, including the Offices of judicial officers and other
staff members before moving to Dodoma Integrated Justice Center (IJC) and was
received by Judge in Charge of the High Court of Tanzania, Dodoma Zone, Hon.
Dr. Juliana Massabo.
While in the Court building, Hon. Dr. Zeija
witnessed activities of some of the Court's stakeholders and the designated
special areas, including the Juvenile Court and the breastfeeding special room,
among others.
Speaking after his brief visit, Hon. Dr.
Zeija expressed his satisfaction with the functions being conducted and said
that it is a good example to follow.
"I am certainly impressed by the beauty
of the infrastructure of this building, the way it has been built and arranged,
indeed this is a very good thing. I have learned a lot through this
visit," said the Principal Judge.
On Friday August 18, 2023, Hon. Dr. Zeija returned to the commercial
city of Dar es Salaam. He visited some of areas, notably the Police Monument, Tanzania
National Museum, Makumbusho Village and later at the University of Dar es
Salaam where he graduated Law Doctorate Decree.
