World Bank delegation today August 30, 2023 met with the Chief Court
Administrator of the Judiciary of Tanzania, Prof. Elisante Ole Gabriel in his
office in Dar es Salaam and held a short tête-à-tête with him with the aim of increasing
the cooperation between the Court and the Bank.
Speaking after receiving the delegation led by the Senior Pubic Sector
Specialist Task Team from the World Bank, who is also Leader of the Citizen-Centric
Judicial Modernization and Justice Service Delivery Project in Tanzania, Ms.
Christine Owuor, the Chief Court Administrator explained the great progress
achieved by the Judiciary of Tanzania in carrying out its role of providing
justice to people and strengthening various infrastructures, including
buildings.
He assured the delegation that the various projects implemented by the Judiciary
of Tanzania under the funding of the World Bank are progressing well, not only
in the buildings themselves, but also the positive results seen from the quality
services provided to the citizens.
Prof. Ole Gabriel gave an example of the construction of Integrated Justice
Centers, including the one for Temeke Family Matters, where the response of the
people has been so great, something which there were consideration for judicial
staff to start providing services 24 hours a day.
He told the World Bank delegation that everything is currently going well
in the entire future of the development of various infrastructures and there is
no major challenge that they could report to hinder the implementation of
ongoing projects.
"As far as I am concerned, everything is under our internal control,
there has always been help and support from the beginning. For me that is the
most important thing. Things always move in the right direction if there is
cooperation. My humble request is that let us continue with this
momentum," he appealed.
The Chief Court Administrator, on behalf of the Chief Justice, expressed
his gratitude for the way the team from the World Bank cooperates with the judiciary
in ensuring that all plans are fully implemented.
Prof. Ole Gabriel invited the World Bank mission to participate in a large
meeting of Chief Justices from all African countries expected to be held in
Tanzania for the first time in Arusha city at the end of October, 2023.
The leader of the delegation seized such an opportunity to introduce the
Leading Governance Specialist from the World Bank, Ms. Donna Andrews, who has joined
the team to monitor the implementation of various projects sponsored by the Bank
in the country.
Ms. Donna explained that although she is still new, she has already heard the
good progress of various projects implemented by the judiciary in the country
and that it is understood that there have been great successes.
She also expressed her happiness to meet the Chief Court Administrator of
the Judiciary of Tanzania and work with the World Bank team, promising to
continue the existing cooperation between the two parties.

call session was also attended by the Head of
the Judiciary Delivery Unit of the Judiciary of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Angelo Rumisha and Governance
Specialist from the World Bank, Mr. Benjamin Mtesigwa.
