TANZANIA JUDICIARY DELEGATION IN KOREA FOR JUDICIAL COOPERATION

A section of Justices of the Court of Appeal and Judges of the High Court of Tanzania is in Korea for a visit aimed at advancing judicial experiences through international cooperation.

The delegation of Tanzania Judiciary is led by Court of Appeal Justice and Principal of the Institute of Judicial Administration (IJA), Hon. Paul Kihwelo. Other Justices of Appeal are Hon. Issa Maige, Hon. Gerson Mdemu and Hon. Dr. Juliana Massabo.

High Court of Tanzania Judges in the list are Hon. Fahamu Mtulya, Hon. Danstan Ndunguru, Hon Dr. Lilian Mongela and Hon. Kevin Mhina. On July 13, 2026, the delegation attended the launch of the Judicial Capacity Building Programme, hosted by the Judicial Research and Training Institute (JRTI) of the Republic of Korea.

The launch was also attended by Ambassador -Designate of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Korea, His Excellence Noel Emmanuel Kaganda, to further strengthen economic and judicial cooperation between the two nations

The progremme serves as a valuable platform for exchanging best practices in digital courts, artificial intelligence, electronic case management and judicial administration to strengthen access to justice and judicial efficiency.

Speaking during the occasion, Justice Kihwelo noted that, such second edition reflects the growing partnership between Tanzania and the Republic of Korea and their shared commitment to modern, technology-driven judicial system.

On his part, Ambassador Kaganda thanked the JRTI and the Republic of Korea for their continued support, emphasizing the programme's important role in strengthening judicial institutions and advancing the rule of law.

According to the programme, yesterday dated July 13, 2026, the Judiciary of Tanzania delegation was taken through the ‘Judicial System of Korea’ and visited the Yonsei University Law School.

Today dated July 14, 2026, the delegation will have three sessions which include ‘E-Litigation System in Korean Courts (Civil Cases)’, ‘Introduction to the E-Criminal Litigation System’ and the ‘Current State and Future Prospects of AI in Judicial Education.’

The programme also shows that on Wednesday dated July 15, 2026, the delegation will be taken through the ‘Use of AI in the Korean Judiciary’ and later be transferred to the Seoul Southern District Court for a meeting with the Chief Judge.

On Thursday dated July 16, 2026, the delegation will visit the Supreme Court of Korea and have a meeting with the representative from the National Court Administration and later in the afternoon they will move to the JRTI for other issues.
